Empowering Women with Actionable Data

Women have been a critical part of farm and ranch operations across the country — and around the globe — for centuries. But now, as women in agriculture, we have a unique opportunity to be the change we want to see in our industry. We must build on the incredible legacy of stewardship, innovation, and productivity and help one another succeed now and moving into the future.

Whether it is a farm business that feeds the world, land that you leave better than you found it, or a relationship that empowers and supports your community, industry, and neighbors — there are many ways to build and grow your contribution to agriculture.

The Agriculture Department’s just-unveiled Census of Agriculture revealed that 36% of U.S. farmers are women and 56% of all farms have at least one female decision maker.

Also of note, according to USDA, farms with female producers making decisions tend to be smaller than average in both acres and value of production.

Women farmers are most heavily engaged in day-to-day farm and ranch decisions, along with recordkeeping and financial management.

What is the value of Agtools?

Agtools provides growers with the possibility to quickly monitor market information in real-time, gathering information from the source and constantly updating it for growers to make better decisions just in time.

Farmers can quickly see peaks and valleys in production for specific crops to know how much of any particular specialty crop was produced in a given geographic area of the world, and at what time of year. This will help them identify the best time to bring crops to market and to avoid market volatility.

They can quickly see pricing histories of specific commodities, providing them with pricing FOB, pricing at distribution centers, and pricing at retail, holidays, exchange rates, news y many more.

With access to the Agtools data, women farmers can see current and historic pricing for the commodities they grow in local, national, and international markets.

That helps them understand what a fair market price would be for them to sell to aggregators/exporters in the marketplace.

It helps them understand that they are getting a fair price and that they are not being taken advantage of.

Data is readily accessible on as smart phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers.
