48-65% Snowpack Decline

A 2023 Report by the Environmental Defense Fund indicates that California’s Sierra Nevada snowpack, the mainstay of the state’s extensive agriculture sector, “is projected to experience a 48-65% decline by 2100.” While recent atmospheric river storms have largely restored California’s reservoirs, the long-term trend is that there will be less water for California’s agriculture from the Sierra’s snowpack.
