The American Farmland Trust indicates that “nearly 80% of the Colorado River’s water” goes to supporting US agriculture in seven States: Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming. As a result of the severe drought that has gripped the Southwest for over two decades, “the Colorado River is flowing at some of the lowest levels ever seen.”
