Agtools® selected to present First Phenology Conference in the Global South in Brazil with Chilling Hours and their influence on Sonoran Grape Exports to the USA

Orange, CA, May 29nd — Agtools, the largest scientific phenological repository of specialty crops and a pioneering software company at the intersection of curated data and technological excellence was selected to publish and present at PHENO2025.

Agtools' article on “Chilling Hours and Their Influence on Sonoran Grape Exports to the USA: A Study of Phenology, Harvest Timing, and Market Performance” proves that further exploring or building upon the science of phenology could improve supply chain resilience by addressing factors like phenological impact, harvest timing, and market performance. Smart contracts used in supply chains would reduce reliance on natural resources, food waste, and financial losses across regions worldwide.

"Agtools' work on integrating phenological and market data on smart contracts could unlock "smart" solutions that optimize supply chain resilience by bridging science and financial markets without avoiding deep integration of economic formulas. This approach would provide actionable guidance, enabling farmers, businesses, and governments worldwide to make informed decisions that enhance sustainability across regions and countries." comments Martha Montoya, CEO and Co-Founder of Agtools with worldwide vast experience on supply chain.

"We would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Theresa M. Crimmins, PhD, Director of the USA National Phenology Network at the University of Arizona's School of Natural Resources and Environment. Her guidance was instrumental in introducing us to Pheno2025, which we believe is a crucial step towards integrating phenological science into all aspects of food research and markets. This vision aligns with our own mission at Agtools”, as reflected by Dr. Armando Carrillo, Agtools’ lead scientist and distinguished professor, researcher, and prolific author on topics related to food, agriculture, and sustainability.

PHENO2025 theme “Towards a Global Phenology Science" is the first Phenology Conference in the Global South and in a tropical country, Brazil. The PHENO2025 represents a crucial gathering for scientists, researchers, students, technicians and Data-driven decision-making for optimal pricing strategy, providing users with the tools they need to navigate a rapidly changing market and stay ahead of the competition. PHENO2025 is organized by the International Society of Biometeorology (ISB) founded over 50 years ago, which provides an international forum for the promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration between meteorologists, health professionals, biologists, climatologists, ecologists and other scientists.

About Phenology

Phenology – the study of recurrent events in the life cycles of plants and animals (e.g. flowering, leaf fall and unfolding, animal migration) is an integrative science, combining disciplines of ecology, evolutionary biology, climatology, and environmental sciences. Phenology is a key indicator of environmental changes, bringing together experts from various disciplines, stakeholders and society.

About Pheno2025

PHENO2025 conference aims to foster global collaboration and innovation in monitoring, modeling, and predicting phenological shifts. Specific areas of interest include phenology communities and networks, standards and protocols for data collection, phenology as a bio-indicator of climate change, impacts of phenology on organism performance and ecosystem function, physiological and genetic determinism, remote sensing phenology, biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration, bringing to scene highly diverse ecosystems.

About ISB

The ISB was founded on August 29, 1956, at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France. The foundation was initiated by the geologist Dr. S.W. Tromp (The Netherlands) and the meteorologist Dr. H. Ungeheuer (Germany) and several human physiologists of which Dr. F. Sargent II (USA) became the first President. The Society was founded by scientists who were interested in environmental and ecological problems that were isolated. The ISB provided a framework for the exchange of information that was essential to the survival of the discipline. Today, the ISB continues to facilitate the cooperation of scientists throughout the world as they continue to explore biometeorological problems.
