Raspberry varieties are classified into three groups according to their chilling hours requirements: high, with more than 800 chilling hours; medium, between 400 and 600 chilling hours; and low, with less than 400 chilling hours. These requirements are met within a temperature range of 1.4 °C to 12.4 °C. The accumulation of cold followed by a period of warmth is crucial for the emergence of reproductive shoots in this plant, making accurate calculation of chilling hours a key tool for determining the most suitable zones for raspberry cultivation.
