El Niño 2015-2016: Impact on Strawberry Phenology and Imports in Colombia

Strawberries are highly vulnerable to adverse climatic conditions, especially during flowering. The 2015-2016 El Niño phenomenon significantly affected their quality, harvest, and yield, causing domestic production in Colombia to fall short of national demand, forcing the country to import fruit from Chile.
