The delayed grape harvest in 2022-2023 was primarily attributed to an excessive accumulation of chilling hours during the dormant period between late 2022 and early 2023. In contrast, the warmer and drier conditions prevalent in Mexico and California during the 2023-2024 season presented a more significant challenge. Despite the later accumulation of chilling hours, their levels for the 2024-2025 season were comparable to those of the previous cycle, suggesting consistent seasonal behavior (Graph 4). Furthermore, it is likely that the Sonora region will experience similar volumes in 2023-2024 as in the preceding season, as the dormancy conditions and chilling hours accumulation were equivalent.
