Private Equity firm, Folium Capital, aims to raise $500 million for a new fund to acquire forestry and agriculture assets, as the specialist investment firm sees opportunities both in the efforts to reduce carbon emissions and the demand for healthy foods. One such trend, he said, is the increased popularity, particularly across developed countries, of some foods considered healthy. He cited as examples nuts, olive oil and fruits such as avocados andblueberries.
Folium also expects to benefit from the growth of carbon offset markets, whose increased reliance on companies rather than governments makes them less risky, Mr. Wiltshire said.
