Where is Cantaloupe coming from?

In 2021, #Guatemala, (31.05%), and #CentralCalifornia, (24.13%), #contributed more than 50% of the U.S. cantaloupe volume. Guatemala continued to grow #market share from 2020 to 2021 with a 10.57% increase while Central California declined in #volume by -11.14%. U.S. per capita consumption of fresh cantaloupe dropped from 6.11 lbs. in 2020 while remaining at 7.0 lbs. between 2016-2018. The origin of the name of the fruit reportedly, comes from a town in the Sabine Hills of Italy, Cantalupo di Sabina.
